Halloween

We recently read The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin and learned how we are each special and unique! We then made our own very special pumpkins to hang on our wall. On Wednesday we had our Halloween parade and party. Whew! What a busy week !

Shared Reading

During shared reading we read the book Penguins Are Waterbirds. We learn facts about penguins and then made a brace map to put it all together. We found some things to be very interesting, ask us about the big penguin on our door!

Firefighters

During Fire Safety Week we created a brace map on firefighters. We want to thank them for all they do for us and for their bravery! We also talked with our families about a fire safety plan in our homes. Do you have a plan?

Columbus Day

In 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue! We talked about what we would do if we were an explorer like Columbus and where we would like to explore.

Johnny Appleseed

In Social Studies we learned about John Chapman and how he planted apples trees across the countryside. We also learned about different kinds of apples and decided to have our own taste test. As you can see yellow apples won!

Peacemakers

The beginning of the year had us brainstorming peacemakers and peacebreakers. We read David Goes To School and came up with ways to be peacemakers not peacebreakers!

Our back itches!

In science we also had the problem of an itch on our back! We worked in groups to design a back scratcher. One group even went as far as to build a double scratcher so two people could be worked on at once! How ingenious!
