Busy in February!

We celebrated President's Day by comparing George and Abe.  We think they were great leaders!

We wrote about what we would do if we were president.

We would make great leaders!

                                                                       Martin Luther King Jr.

After studying Dr. King, we wrote about ways we are like him.

Groundhog Day

We were all disappointed that Phil saw his shadow and there will be 6 more weeks of winter!

                                          Dental Health
We have been learning how to take care of our teeth.  Our school nurse, Mrs. Markheim, came in and showed us how to brush and floss.  She also showed us how a cavity develops using an apple, yuck!  We made a giant toothbrush and are making sure we brush every morning and night before we go to bed.

We read books about going to the dentist.

We also did an experiement on what happens if we eat the wrong foods and do not brush.  We all agreed that brushing is important!

We love to write!

Writer's Workshop is one of our favorite times of the day!
Here is a writer busy at work.

Here is a student busy working on a piece, "My aunt said it is time to leave from the YMCA. It was fun to spend time with my aunt."

During our Literacy Stations, we are learning to write letters, cards, lists, and stories.

A card written for a classmates birthday.

We love to mail our letters too!

"You've got mail!"

Here is the birthday boy showing off his card.

We are very good at writing super sentences!  This sentence is about a family trip.  This student then wrote a whole story about her trip and staying in a hotel.
